Nour A-Din Sh'hadda

Nour A-Din Sh'hadda wurde im Flüchtlingslager von Tulkarem (Westjordanland) 1968 unmittebar nach dem Ende des Krieges von 1967 geboren. Er schloss eine Ausbildung als Sozialarbeiter an der Al-Quds Open University ab. Seine Teilnahme an der Ersten Initifada (1987-1993) trug ihm eine fünfjährige Gefängnisstrafe ein. Nach seiner Entlassung 1995 ging er zur Polizei der Palestinian Authority. Beim Ausbruch der Zweiten Intifada im September 2000 beteiligte er sich wieder am bewaffneten Kampf gegen die israelische Besetzung. Nachdem er zusehen hatte müssen, wie viele seiner Freunde in einem Kampf getötet wurden, der sich zunehmend als kontraproduktiv darstellte – das einzige greifbare Ergebnis war die Errichtung der Sperranlage – wandte sich Nour A-Din Sh'hadda endgültig von Gewalttätigkeit ab und trat 2003 dem Middle East Non-Violence and Democracy Center bei. 2006 wurde er Mitbegründer von Combatants for Peace. Jetzt koordiniert er Programme, die eine Annäherung der beiden Konfliktpartner bewirken sollen, und bringt einer neuen Generation von Palästinensern den Gedanken des Gewaltverzichts näher.
