Alan Sandry

Dr Alan Sandry is a Fellow, and Founder, of the European Institute of Identities, a Fellow of The Morgan Academy, and Senior Lecturer in European Political Thought at the School of Management, Swansea University. He was formerly Lecturer in European Territorial Politics at Cardiff University, Wales; Lecturer in Social and Political Theory at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Wales; and Lecturer in Postgraduate Research Methodologies at Regents University, London, England. Dr Sandry has been a Visiting Lecturer at universities across Europe including University Jean Moulin Lyon 3, France; University of the Basque Country, Bilbao, Euskadi; and Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz, Germany. He has presented Guest Lectures at,inter alia, London School of Economics, England; Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Catalunya; and Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal.

Dr Sandry is a Vice President of the Centre Maurits Coppieters, Brussels, Belgium, and has extensive working relationships with the European Parliament and European Commission. Also, he routinely interacts  with the National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff; Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh; Northern Ireland Assembly, Belfast; and the Houses of Parliament, London, England. In May 2017, at the invitation of Gure Esku Dago, he was the International Observer for the Consultation Process of the Basque Country.

Dr Sandry is a published author, and has been a consultant and contributor for newspapers and journals including Independent on Sunday, Times Higher Education Supplement, New Statesman, and Financial Times. Dr Sandry is also a regular radio and television contributor, and has produced podcasts from the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium. His current research interests include the evolving nature of political, cultural and social identities within Europe; the relationship between ideologies and individual and collective thought; education and innovation for economic amelioration; and ways in which students can be taught about global concerns and wider societal interests.
