Gijs Bakker

Gijs Bakker wurde 1942 in Amersfoort geboren und zählte bereits früh zu den Hohepriestern des Design im Industriebereich und in der Schmuckgestaltung. Er arbeitet für renommierte Unternehmen wie Polaroid, Artifort, HEMA, Van Kempen & Begeer und ENO Studio. 1993 gründete er zusammen mit Renny Ramakers Droog Design, eine Vereinigung von Designern, die sich der Klarheit und Schlichtheit holländischer Formentradition verpflichtet fühlt. Zusammen mit dem italienischen Galleristen Marijke Vallanzasca gründete Bakker 1996 die Stiftung Chi ha paura...? (italienisch für „Wer hat Angst vor..?“) um der internationalen Designwelt zu zeigen, dass Schmuck mehr als ein Modeaccessoire ist. Bakker unterrichtet seit mehr als 40 Jahren an Universitäten wie der Design Academy Eindhoven und hält Vorträge und Workshops weltweit. Gijs Bakker’s Arbeit ist in vielen internationalen Sammlungen und Museen zu finden.
