Christine Gaigg

Christine Gaigg lebt als freischaffende Choreografin in Wien. Nach ihrem Studium der Philosophie und Sprachwissenschaft an der Universität Wien absolviert sie eine Tanz- und Choreografieausbildung an der School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam. Unter dem Label 2ND NATURE produziert sie Arbeiten im zeitgenössischen Tanz; u.a. zusammen mit dem Komponisten Max Nagl: „Oiwei Super“ (1995) Festival der Regionen in Oberösterreich; „Sacre Material“ (2000), ausgezeichnet mit dem Österreichischen Tanzproduktionspreis; „ten2hundred“ (2001), kuratiert für die Eröffnung des Tanzquartier Wien; „ADEBAR/KUBELKA“ (2003), unter Einbindung des Filmemachers Peter Kubelka. Zusammen mit dem Komponisten Bernhard Lang entwickelt sie eine Loop-Grammatik für Musik, Bewegung und Sprache: „TRIKE spring, summer, winter“ (2004) und „TRIKE“ (2005) mit Ensemblemitgliedern des Theater am Neumarkt Zürich. „V-TRIKE“ (2004-06) hat am Kaaitheater Brüssel Premiere. Ihre Inszenierung von Elfriede Jelineks „Über Tiere“ (2007) wird als Schweizer Erstaufführung vom Theater am Neumarkt Zürich, den Zürcher Festspielen und dem Tanzquartier Wien koproduziert. Während der Saison 2007/08 ist Christine Gaigg Artist in Residence am Tanzquartier Wien. Neben ihrer Tätigkeit als Choreografin hat sie einen Lehrauftrag für Performance Theorie am Institut für Theaterwissenschaft Wien.
