Necla Kelek

Necla Kelek (geboren 1957 in Istanbul) kam im Alter von 10 Jahren nach Deutschland. In Hamburg und Greifswald studierte sie Volkswirtschaft und Soziologie und promovierte über das Thema „Islam im Alltag“. Das Bundesinnenministerium berief sie von 2005 bis 2009 als ständiges Mitglied in die Deutsche Islam Konferenz. Kelek ist Mitglied des Senats der Deutschen Nationalstiftung. Sie lebt und arbeitet als freie Autorin in Berlin. Neben einer Vielzahl von Artikeln und Aufsätzen veröffentlichte sie bisher folgende Bücher: Islam im Alltag. Islamische Religiosität und ihre Bedeutung in der Lebenswelt von Schülerinnen und Schülern türkischer Herkunft (Münster 2002), Die fremde Braut. Ein Bericht aus dem Inneren des türkischen Lebens in Deutschland (Köln 2005), Verlorene Söhne. Plädoyer für die Befreiung des türkisch-muslimischen Mannes (Köln 2006), Bittersüße Heimat. Bericht aus dem Inneren der Türkei (Köln 2008), Himmelsreise. Mein Streit mit den Wächtern des Islam (Köln 2010). Für ihr Buch Die fremde Braut wurde sie mit dem Geschwister-Scholl-Preis der Stadt München ausgezeichnet; für Die verlorenen Söhne erhielt sie den Sachbuchpreis CORINE 2006. Die Universität Duisburg-Essen verlieh ihr im November 2006 die Mercator-Professur. 2009 erhielt sie den Hildegard-von-Bingen-Preis für Publizistik.
