Sandra Hummel

Sandra Hummel was born in Dormagen in 1967. An accomplished singer and writer of lyrical poetry and essays she has turned to writing opera libretti and radio plays in recent years. Her latest works are “Bruckner, der Musikant Gottes” for a production by Bayerischer Rundfunk and the libretto for the opera “Der Tüfel geit um” for Erfurt Opera. From the writing of libretti Sandra Hummel moved on to composing: in collaboration with the Augsburg pedagogue Ursula Galli she wrote the music for the children’s musical “Im Land der Aymathobolus”. Married to the composer Franz Hummmel, she has been increasingly in charge of writing the textual bases and libretti for his compositions; “Fouché” is one of the fruits of this collabora¬tion. She has just completed the libretto for “Trotzki”, an opera by the Halle composer Thomas Müller.
