Truth?

What does yesterday’s snow tell us about tomorrow’s climate? On the reconstruction of extremes of climate and the patterns of their interpretation

Taking today’s discussion of the greenhouse effect as his point of departure, Professor Pfister will present an array of examples and inferences on climate data drawn from the archives of nature and society. The focus will be on the well-known claim of the so-called climate sceptics that the past is rich in climatic extremes comparable to those of today. Then the natural forcings will be discussed that caused climatic fluctuations in the past. The final topic will be the changes that have taken place in the patterns of interpretation applied to climatic events. The point of the presentation is to encourage the audience to ask many challenging questions.
