Thomas Macho

Thomas Macho

Thomas Macho (born 1952) read philosophy, musicology and pedagogics at Vienna University. He graduated in 1976 amd habilitated in philosophy in 1984. Since 1993 Macho has held the chair for Cultural History at Humboldt Universität Berlin. In 2001 he was awarded the prize of the Aby-Warburg Stiftung Hamburg. In 2006 he became Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at Humboldt University. In 2007 he was made a member of the Board of Directors of Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden. Currently Thomas Macho is also a Fellow of Internationales Kolleg für Kulturtechnikforschung und Medienphilosophie at the Bauhaus Universität Weimar. His latest publications are Die neue Sichtbarkeit des Todes (2007, together with Kristin Marek) and Zwei Grad. Das Wetter, der Mensch und sein Klima (2008, together with Petra Lutz).
