Friedrich Schwarz

Friedrich Schwarz (born 1957) graduated in Botany and Zoology from Vienna University with a dissertation on peculiarities of the vegetation to be observed at the Danube Water Gap between Engelhartszell and Aschach. Since 1982 Friedrich Schwarz has been working as an urban biologist in Linz and initiated among other things the field mapping of  Linz’s biotopes. In 1990 he was appointed Bezirksbeauftragter für Natur- und Landschaftsschutz. In 1998 he became Head of the Naturkundliche Station and, after an organisational restructuring, Head of Botanischer Garten. He is editor-in-chief of the periodical ÖKO.L and urban ecology, nature conservation and nature mediation are among the areas of which Friedrich Schwarz has expert knowledge.
