Gunter Waldek

Gunter Waldek (born 1953) read music pedagogy, Romance Studies, conducting and composition in Salzburg. In 1982 he was appointed  Professor for Composition at the Bruckner-Konservatorium/Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität Linz. Between 1990 and 2007 he was also Deputy Director and Deputy Rector of the university. In 2004 he habilitated. In addition to being a teacher Gunter Waldek is also active as a conductor and composer. Compositions by him have been performed by the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Bruckner Orchester Linz, and he has written music for Landestheater Linz, Musica Sacra and Vienna Modern. Over the last years Waldek has also developed a strong interest in vocal music above all in the area of musical drama.
