Truth?
Programmbild Wahrheit?

Is Science a Quest for Truth?

The old ideal of researchers who are committed exclusively to the search for truth still retains its attraction for many. The question neverthe¬less needs to be asked whether scientists do indeed always use truth as a compass. Are not error and indeed deception also relevant? And even if it is taken for granted that scientists seek for truth: can they ever be certain they have attained it? Are Kepler’s Laws true in the literal sense of the word? What sort of truth does science produce?

A series of lectures organized by Institut für Soziologie/Abt. für Theoretische Soziologie und Sozialanalysen der Johannes Kepler Universität Linz in collaboration with Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture in the Kepler Salon.

Curated by B. Aulenbacher, U. Fuchs, S. Keller, M. Ziegler
