Andreas Quatember originally opted for statistics because “mathematics alone was too dry and sociology alone too diffuse”. At the beginning of his working life it was particularly teaching that promised ever new challenges. During work on his dissertation he discovered his vocation in his job. From the wide field of statistics he selected sample theory as his area of special interest. At present he is working on questions concerning the no-response problem. His experiences as a teacher helped him write the textbook “Statistik ohne Angst vor Formeln”.
