Communication?
Programmbild Gastveranstaltungen

Can drama workshops make a difference in the Middle East conflict? Political sensitization, communication and empowerment – drama workshops as a way out of the Israeli-Palestinian impasse.

Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories have been a hotspot for decades. Chen Alon (Israel) and Nour Al-Din Sha'ada (Palestine) talk about their attempts to use grass root level drama workshops in order to get things moving in the intractable conflict between the state of Israel and the population of the Palestinian territories, which have been under occupation for 40 years. These workshops are jointly organized by Israeli soldiers who refuse to serve in the occupied territoreis and by former Palestinian fighters.

This event is a cooperation with the WorldForumTheatreFestival 2009 and connected to the trip to the Middle East organized by “Friedensinitiative der Stadt Linz” and the Volkshochschule Linz in the winter semester of 2009/2010, which will take place under the aegis of Reiner Steinweg.

Lectures will be in English.
