Kurt Schlacher

Kurt Schlacher (born 1955) began a career in cybernetics on completing a course in electrical engineering at Graz Technical University; he obtained a doctorate in technologoy in 1984. From 1990 Schlacher has been on the academic staff of Johannes Kepler University Linz; in 1992 he became Chair of Automation Engineering, since 2004 he has been head of the Institute for Cybernetics and Process Automation. Schlacher is associate editor of a number of specialist journals (IEEE Transaction on Control Systems Technology, AUTOMATICA, CEP); in 2005 he was coopted to the advisory board of the journal ACTA MECHANICA and nominated secretary of the IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control).
